Prague Old Town
Christmas Market at Old Town Square 2025
The Christmas Market at Old Town Square is the crown jewel of Prague’s holiday season. And it’s easy to see why. Year after year, international media ranks it among the most beautiful Christmas markets in the world. CNN Travel has included it in their top 5 most beautiful markets globally, The Times named it among Europe’s best, and US News & Travel World declared Prague the best Christmas destination. The magical atmosphere of a true Czech Christmas comes alive in the historic heart of the city.
What makes it special: This is Prague’s largest and most festive market, centered around a towering Christmas tree that becomes the heart of the celebration. This year’s tree is a majestic 85-year-old spruce from northern Bohemia, standing 26 meters tall (85 feet – about 8 stories high!). The tree will be ceremonially lit during a special event on Saturday, November 29, 2025, marking the official opening of both the tree and the Christmas markets.
What you’ll find: The market captures the essence of Czech Christmas traditions. Wooden stalls overflow with handcrafted ornaments made from glass, straw, ceramics, wood, and beads. You’ll find hand-carved nativity scenes, lace tablecloths, crocheted toys, and other traditional crafts. Several stalls are run by charitable organizations selling their handmade goods.
For food and drinks, expect the classics: mulled wine (svařák), hot punch, honey mead, hot apple cider, traditional Czech sausages, grilled cheese, pancakes, mini donuts, potato pancakes (bramboráky), and chocolate-covered fruit skewers. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available.
Throughout the market’s run, there’s live entertainment on the main stage. Expect folk performances, choirs, dance shows, and charity events that bring the festive spirit to life.

Christmas Market at Marianske Square
This intimate market on Marianske Square celebrates traditional Czech Christmas through the lens of Josef Lada, the beloved Czech painter known for his nostalgic winter scenes. The square transforms into a living tribute to Lada’s work with an outdoor exhibition of his winter illustrations and a glass pavilion displaying items from his life.
The market features stalls run by non-profit organizations and sheltered workshops, offering handcrafted decorations, traditional goods, and Christmas treats. Christmas Market at Wenceslas Square (Lower Part)
The Christmas market in the lower part of Wenceslas Square brings traditional Czech Christmas spirit to one of Prague’s most iconic boulevards. You’ll find a festively lit Christmas tree surrounded by wooden stalls offering Czech handicrafts and Christmas goods: ornaments, candles, Advent wreaths, mistletoe, ceramic nativity scenes, lace tablecloths, and crocheted toys. Located between the I.P. Pavlova and Namesti Miru metro stations, this Christmas market sits on a square with a rich market tradition dating back to 1875. The modern marketplace, rebuilt in 2011, hosts a farmers’ market year-round and transforms into a festive Christmas market each December.

Christmas Market at Jiřího z Poděbrad Square (JZP)
The Advent market at Jiřího z Poděbrad Square in Žižkov offers a neighborly, relaxed atmosphere where locals gather under the “Heart Tree” (a linden tree decorated with hearts while the square undergoes reconstruction). This beloved community market combines traditional crafts, farmers’ markets, and a welcoming vibe that Žižkov residents cherish.
From Wednesday to Saturday, enjoy farmers’ markets with local goods and Christmas specialties (8 am to 6 pm). Advent stalls are open daily (10 am to 8 pm) selling mulled wine, hot punch, Christmas decorations, and trees. On Sundays, browse the “Show What You Can Do” design and crafts market (10 am to 6 pm). Kids can visit Jesus’s chapel to write their Christmas wishes, and there’s a special play and photo opportunity with St. Nicholas, a devil, and an angel on December 5th.
The market features performances by local school children, and scouts will distribute Bethlehem Light on December 22-23.

Every Saturday and also on Thursday 22.12. Advent markets will be held in Vitezne Square (called Kulatak), where you can buy a wide range of classic assortment such as snacks, mulled wine, excellent coffee, hot ciders, vegetables, pastries, freshwater and sea fish, meat, sausages, cheeses, various types of sweets (including gluten-free options), wine, roasted chestnuts, Advent wreaths, flowers, Christmas decorations, mistletoe and small design gifts. Every Advent Sunday, the Christmas Market in Karlin will bring you the Christmas atmosphere. Come and get in the mood for Christmas at the advent markets with the smell of mulled wine, Bethlehem, carols, lots of delicacies and a cultural program. You can look forward to the making of Christmas decorations and children will be able to write a letter to Santa and there will also be singing performances by local schools and choirs.

Prožijte adventní atmosféru na vánočních trzích na Pražském hradě na náměstí U Svatého Jiří za katedrálou sv. Víta, Václava a Vojtěcha.
